Hyrule Warriors for Wii U Gets Playable Impa and New Screenshots

Hyrule Warriors for Wii U Gets Playable Impa and New ScreenshotsGet used to the name Hyrule Warriors as this morning Nintendo confirmed that this is the finalized name for the upcoming mash-up of The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors from Tecmo Koei.

To go along with the name announcement, Nintendo has additionally revealed Hyrulean Captain Impa as a playable character and shared a small bountry’s worth of new screenshots, including a couple that feature Impa in them. Yes, that’s a new-look Impa that has evolved from an old craggly woman from The Legend of Zelda into a force to be reckoned with.

Nintendo also confirms that the first stage of Hyrule Warriors will take place in Hyrule Field. A combination of familiar The Legend of Zelda enemies will be met on the battlefield, such as Lizalfos and Bokoblins, as well as all-new enemies like Sorceress Cia, the main villain in the game. In true Zelda fashion, the Triforce balance has been disrupted and Princess Zelda has been swiped. It’s up to Link and his pals to bring her home and restore peace and order to Hyrule Kingdom.

Though Hyrule Warriors features The Legend of Zelda locations and characters, the game itself will play just like Dynasty Warriors. Players will battle hack-and-slash style to defend or reclaim areas on the battlefield and ultimately claim victory using a combination of combative and tactical skills.

Nintendo will publish Hyrule Warriors exclusively for Wii U sometime later this year.
