Today we have the first 9 screenshots released from Red Faction: Guerilla, the sequel to a pair of Xbox games and first next-gen entry in the series.
The original Red Faction helped pioneer the use of destructible environments in first-person shooters. With the move to next-gen hardware and more horsepower, developer Volition is aiming to push the boundaries of destruction so that if you see it, it can go boom.
Explosions will be accompanied by good old-fashioned breaking stuff in Red Faction: Guerilla. Donning a large mechanical suit similar to what Ripley wore in Aliens and viewable in these first screenshots, players will be able to smash through opponents, structures, and anything else that stands in their way.
Though Red Faction: Guerilla isn’t slated to arrive in stores on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC until sometime next year, it’s clearly shaping up as potentially something special.
