Blitz: The League II Coming to PS3, Xbox 360; First Screens

Midway Games has announced the next entry in the Blitz series, Blitz: The League II, is currently in development for release on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall.

Blitz will be the only competition for EA’s Madden NFL 09 this year as 2K Games has returned to the drawing board after a lukewarm reception to their long-awaited gridiron return.

Midway has brought in former ESPN “Playmakers” writer, Peter Egan, to pen an all-new story mode full of on and off the field antics. LT, aka Giants great Lawrence Taylor, returns to serve as the game’s spokesperson and head badass.

Other features include Precision-Aim Tackles, player-controlled touchdown celebrations, an enhanced on-the-field Clash Mode, online multiplayer capabilities, expanded rosters with all-new personalities, and the return of every football fan’s favorite unspoken feature: Late Hits.

Check out the first screens from Blitz: The League II below and keep an eye out for our hands-on impressions from E3 next week.
