Electronic Arts has released the first substantial batch of screenshots ripped from their new IP boxing title, FaceBreaker.
The screens show off Molotov, a Russian boxer with an obsession for demolitions, and Romeo, a lean Latin lover whose movements are drawn from, what else, sex. Also depicted is an unknown new character with white hair and goatee that might as well be Samuel L Jackson’s offspring.
Building upon the face deformation physics developed for Fight Night Round 3 but stylized in a cartoon fashion, FaceBreaker is reminding us more of Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Sure the point of view is radically different, but the character design and palette evoke some serious nostalgia.
FaceBreaker is on track for a release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii sometime in 2008.
