Fox takes a stab at delivering the next singing competition hit with The Masked Singer tonight in hopes that not knowing who the singers are will keep viewers around for each episode’s big unveiling.
The Masked Singer is based on the hit South Korean show King of Masked Singer. Episode 1 premieres Wednesday, January 2nd at 9:00-10:00 PM EST/PST on Fox TV. Whichever masked singer is voted off has to remove their mask at each episode’s conclusion.

The competitors have earned 65 Grammy Award nominations, 16 Emmy Award nominations, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and four Super Bowl titles between them. In other words, look for a combination of actors/actresses, athletes and singers under the masks.
Secrecy has been so tight around the competitor identities that screener copies of the first episodes blurred out the mask removals as to not spoil the show’s big reveals.
