Shark Week 2019 Preview
Though this year marks the 31st consecutive summer Discovery is running Shark Week, there are some new additions to the programming that should get viewers excited.
On Wednesday, July 31st, the first feature-length film produced specifically for Shark Week will premiere. Capsized: Blood In the Water. It is based on a real-life 1982 harrowing shark encounter and stars Josh Duhamel (Transformers).

To get Shark Week 2019 underway, Shaquille O’Neal faces his fears in Shaq Does Shark Week: Sharkmania. The official synopsis reads, “Shaquille O’Neal accidentally signed himself up to be thrust into the teeth of Shark Week, but he doesn’t do sharks. To overcome his fear, he trains with Ex-Navy and Marine, comedian Rob Riggle, for the big plunge.”
Two hour later will see the premiere of Shark Trip: Eat Prey Chum with Rob Riggle. Its synopsis reads, “Rob Riggle is planning the ultimate “guys trip” for his friends Adam DeVine, Anthony Anderson, Joel McHale and Damon Wayans Jr. But little do they know the getaway is a shark diving mission to locate the largest tiger shark in the Caribbean.”
