Last week’s American Horror Story Season 6 premiere shed some light on what this new season is about. Officially titled American Horror Story: Roanoke, the new season taps into a centuries-old tale of missing villagers and the unsuspecting modern day folks that purchase a property near the old Roanoke settlement. The Season 6 premiere began innocently enough with Matt (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and Shelby (Sarah Paulson) move from Los Angeles to an isolated home in the hills of North Carolina to reenact past events as part of a documentary called, “My Roanoke Nightmare.” It’s a quiet straightforward affair for the couple, at least at first.
Strange occurrences manifest both in and around the house before long. Are they being preyed upon by thieves? Is the house haunted? Those answers are to be determined, but there’s definitely crazies out in the woods including a guy with a pig head and a bizarre ritual of some sort.
Tonight’s new American Horror Story episode should start to shed some more light into how today connects with the Roanoke colony and its lost villagers. They may still be around and none too pleased about the new neighbors. If we’re lucky Lady Gaga will make her first appearance as well.
