Our next visit to Hawkins, Indiana is unfortunately more than a couple hundred days away.
Netflix confirmed during the Television Critics Association press tour that the Stranger Things Season 3 release date will fall sometime in the summer of 2019.
In the words of Cindy Holland, Netflix’s VP or original content, “It’s a handcrafted show. The Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard, and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. And so they really want to take the time to get it right.”
The first substantial hint that Stranger Things Season 3 wasn’t coming anytime soon came earlier in July when a fantastically 1980s promo for a fictional Hawkins mall was released online. Aside from reminding us that Sam Goody’s and Waldenbooks were once a staple of Americana, the promo reveals Steve and a new character played by Maya Hawke working at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream parlor.

Our first real look at Stranger Things Season 3 footage is still probably several months off.
