Ninjago Update: Is There More, and Mr. E Secrets Revealed

The immensely popular LEGO Ninjago television series has recently traveled a course into uncharted territory. Former lead writers Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman departed the franchise to focus on other projects, while the latest episode — the 100th episode — is ominously titled, Endings.

Fan speculation that Ninjago is done for has spread like a virus across social media and the Internet, especially following the demise of Nexo Knights last year. However, those paying attention will realize that Tommy Andreasen, the lead and executive producer for Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu at LEGO, told fans at Comic-Con last July that more Ninjago programming was coming following Season 10: March of the Oni.

Whether that’s Season 11 later this year or another special remains to be seen.

To set the record straight yet again and quell the latest rumors, Andreasen sat down with voice actor Brent Miller (Zane) on the latter’s increasingly popular YouTube channel. The video is short and in so many words promises that not only is there more Ninjago coming after March of the Oni, but Andreasen was just working with writer Bragi Schut in Los Angeles for a solid week on yet another new story — one that presumably and logistically wouldn’t be released until 2021 at the earliest.

In a second video filmed at the same time, Miller and Andreasen share a series of animatics for the Zane and Mr. E confrontation in Ninjago Season 8: Sons of Garmadon. They talk about how the Hageman’s sprung the idea of Mr. E’s secret identity to the LEGO team via script first, and the process that followed resulting in weeding that reveal out of the story.

More Ninjago is on the way and you’ll hear more about it later this year after March of the Oni has had a chance to premiere around the world and LEGO is ready to ramp up the next season’s/special’s marketing push.
