Netflix has taken the wraps off Mattel’s new 2021 CGI animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe with a first-look trailer that introduces characters and the setting.
This is the second Masters of the Universe Netflix series to debut this summer. The first, Kevin Smith’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation, premiered its first five episodes in July with five more due at a later date.
Terror, blood and death made Smith’s take on MOTU more geared toward adults. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe dials back adult elements and strikes a tone more in line with another Netflix animated series, Guillermo del Toro’s Trollhunters. There are even some visual similarities with Trollhunters as animation studio House of Cool worked on both series.
The premiere date for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is September 16, 2021.
A toy line will naturally accompany this second Netflix MOTU series and be available to purchase at a later date.
