The upcoming new season of Lego Ninjago on Cartoon Network should get some extra attention with Warner Bros. creating a feature-length Ninjago film that will premiere in September 2016 and be set within the same “universe” as The Lego Movie. Details on the upcoming season had been limited to those divulged in leaked packaging artwork from the coinciding toy line, until someone recorded the first footage from Lego Ninjago 2015 shown in a promotional spot and uploaded it to YouTube.
The Lego Ninjago 2015 footage features Kai encountering a Samurai named Hanlan with the ability to turn into titanium, presumably a newly discovered Elemental power. Kai battles this warrior valiantly while Cole, Lloyd and Jay look ok, but appears defeated by the clip’s conclusion.
Rumors suggest the new season of Lego Ninjago will be called Return of an Ancient Evil and it will premiere on January 18, 2015 in North America. It will focus on the distribution of new Elemental powers throughout the world and the ninjas mission to track down those able to control the powers. Some of these newly discovered characters will join their cause, while others will become foes.
Look closely behind Hanlan as the clip begins and you will see an orange-suited ninja casually looking out over the boat’s deck and into the sea while the fight is going on. The toys tell us this is Skylar and she will be joining the Ninjago team as the orange ninja. The question is will Hanlan become a friend or a foe?
