Game of Thrones Season 4 Finale Spoilers: Preview and First Images Released

It won’t be easy for HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 4 finale ‘The Children’ to top last week’s harrowing and action-packed episode set entirely at The Wall. Last year’s finale was subdued after a monster ninth episode, and there have been hints that the producers don’t want to fall into that lull for a second consecutive series. Some mild spoilers are ahead so proceed at your own risk.

The title ‘The Children’ likely refers to a number of characters whom are all children of former fallen greats, or in one instance, a manipulative mastermind. They include Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), daughter of the Mad King Aerys; Arya (Maisie Williams) and Sansa (Sophie Turner) Stark, daughters of Ned Stark; Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), sons of Ned Stark; Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), sons of Tywin Lannister; and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), daughter of Tywin Lannister.

These children referenced in the Season 4 finale could also include Jojen (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) and Meera (Ellie Kendrick) Reed, companions of Bran whose father was once friends with Ned.

All of these characters sans Sansa either appear in the Game of Thrones Season 4 finale trailer or the newly released images that you can peruse below. Arya is still with the hound and looks rather bewildered after learning of her aunt’s fate. Daenerys looks sad in front of her new throne, perhaps beginning to second-guess her recent decisions that left many slavers dead and her right-hand man banished. And Bran’s group has pushed further and further beyond The Wall in search of their destiny.

Alex Graves directs the Game of Thrones Season 4 finale ‘The Children’ with this official synopsis from HBO, “Circumstances change after an unexpected arrival from north of the Wall. Daenerys must face harsh realities. Bran learns more about his destiny. Tyrion sees the truth about his situation.” We will all be watching it tonight at 9/8c.
