The Game of Thrones series finale has finally arrived and will surely disappoint over a million fans that have petitioned for the entire final season to be rewritten and re-shot. No matter which way tonight’s GoT finale goes, it’s mathematically impossible to please everyone.
As with each of the previous five Game of Thrones episodes this season, you can start watching the series finale live on HBO, HBO Now or HBO Go starting at 9/8c.
If you don’t have cable and are concerned about how to access HBO, our top recommendation to watch Game of Thrones online without cable tonight is by signing up for a 7-day free trial of HBO via Amazon Prime. Members can jump straight in to start streaming the Game of Thrones series finale after joining the trial.
No cable is required to take advantage of this free HBO offer. The regular HBO price of $14.99 per month will activate once the trial is complete, or cancel anytime before the trial completes.
If you aren’t an Amazon Prime member then simply signup for a free 30-day trial of Prime. You can then add the Prime Channels with HBO free trial on top of it to stream any of the Game of Thrones Season 8 episodes for free.
Cable and satellite subscribers can watch the Game of Thrones series finale online via the HBO Now streaming service that also offers a free trial without the need for a cable or satellite service.
The Game of Thrones showrunners have already been quite clear that the series finale would be bittersweet. Beloved characters will likely die and someone will take a seat on the Iron Throne.
That is assuming the Iron Throne still stands considering the events of the penultimate episode in which the Red Keep was destroyed by Daenerys Targaryen. The queen-to-be made sure to keep her promise to Jon Snow that she’d use “fear” to rule since no one adored her.
It’s not surprising that HBO has been mum on sharing information about tonight’s big GoT series finale. We know Daenerys will look over her troops in what’s left of King’s Landing. And we know Arya Stark stuck around and could make the new queen her next target.
Theoretically Jaime and Cersei Lannister could emerge from the rubble after being caught in a pocket within the remains of the Red Keep. We could also see Sansa Stark come down from up North and challenge the new queen’s rule.
Next up for Game of Thrones following the series finale and a making-of special a week from today is Season 8 showing up on home video.
