The torch as Gotham’s protector is metaphorically passed from Bruce Wayne to his cousin, Kate Kane (Ruby Rose), in the first full-length trailer for The CW’s Batwoman.
Remnants of Batman and Bruce Wayne are prevalent in this first-look that dials back the clock from when we first met Kate in the Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover last fall. Kane is introduced in this original story before she dons a cowl for the first time — or wears a flowing red wig — and we discover that her girlfriend’s abduction by a Joker-like femme fatale catalyzes becoming Gotham’s new savior.
Reactions to the trailer from men and women alike have been mixed due to multiple not-so-subtle inferences that Kate is the right “woman” for the job as opposed to her “man” cousin. We get it; and hopefully the writers will tone back the sex-driven rhetoric as the series and characters develop over time.

Batwoman is poised to become the successor for Arrow whose upcoming shortened 8th season will be its last.
Along with releasing the first footage from the Batwoman pilot during their upfronts in New York earlier today, The CW also confirmed that the next crossover event — Crisis on Infinite Earths — will span five total episodes. The recently premiered season finales for Arrow and The Flash began to setup this massive multiverse crossover event that will register over five hours in length.
Crisis on Infinite Earths will feature characters from Arrow, Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, and Supergirl.
