Xbox One Pre-Orders Allotment Increased at Amazon Following Policy Reversal

Xbox One Pre-Orders Allotment Increased at Amazon Following Policy ReversalMicrosoft’s Xbox One, or Xbone, or Xbox One Eighty, the latest trendy nickname to bestow the as-of-yet released next generation gaming console, was readily available to pre-order at Amazon.com for a guaranteed launch day delivery prior to today’s big Microsoft alteration of DRM and online connectivity policies. After today there should be even more Xbox One Day One consoles available to scoop up well ahead of its expected mid-November launch.

Shortly after Microsoft’s Don Mattrick confirmed earlier rumor reports by announcing a complete reversal of DRM policies on Xbox One in response to Sony’s E3 media briefing and willingness to allow gamers to trade, share and resell physical media games at will without restrictions, Xbox Community Director Larry Hryb aka Major Nelson announced via Twitter that a “new allotment” of Xbox One Day One consoles was being given to Amazon.com and the official Microsoft store. He did not say how many would be made available, so your guess is as good as mine.

Unfortunately we didn’t know how close Amazon was to selling out of Xbox One Day One consoles prior to Microsoft’s big announcement earlier today. It could still be several more days or even weeks before this new allotment is sold through given the $100 price tag difference between the PS4 and Xbox One (PS4 costs $399, while the Xbox One price is $499).

As was the case before and after the announcement, the lone Xbox One sku remains the number one selling video game item at Amazon.com.

Here’s the big question: what will sell out first at Amazon, one of the PS4 Launch Day bundles or the Xbox One Day One edition? The advantage still has to sit in Sony’s court, especially considering no Xbox One game has breached Amazon’s top 20 bestsellers list in video games despite today’s announcement.
