Microsoft’s Xbox Live fall dashboard update for Xbox 360 is now live and ready for you to take 5-10 minutes to download and install.
What’s in the Xbox Live fall dashboard update, you wonder? The update first and foremost offers a visual makeover to your existing Xbox 360 dashboard that simplifies the interface and dispenses with the three-dimensional overlapping boxes.
The update also adds a bunch of new features including the new ESPN 3 channel to access an estimated 3,500 sports events on-demand per year; recommended Gamertags during the creation process; streamlining of Netflix searching; the ability to see multiple wireless networks and selcet one; an expansion of the Zune Music service to offer millions of songs; the ability to sign out controllers hooked into other profiles; and improvements to the audio chat capability via a new codec.
As a footnote, today also marks the first day that Xbox Live Gold memberships make the jump from $7.99 to $9.99 per month. Someone has to pay for the new dashboard update.
