Xbox 360 Live Primetime Pushed to Spring 2009

Microsoft has delayed the Primetime portion of its new dashboard overhaul per a report at Forbes.com.

Originally scheduled to launch with the new “Xbox Experience” next month, the Primetime component will not be released until spring of next year.

Xbox Live Primetime was developed to bridge the gap between social gaming and live action television. With its first game, 1 versus 100, online players would fill roles in a game with real prizes at stake.

Microsoft told Forbes the delay was to ensure a smooth transition to the new interface. In other words, it likely wasn’t ready to launch.

Still scheduled to appear next month with the dashboard update are Avatars, a new GUI, community features and Netflix movie streaming for Xbox Live Gold Members.

As of September, Xbox 360 ranks number three in console sales with 347,000 units sold per NPD.
