Less than a week after director Peter Berg dropped remarks about where he would like to see a Hancock sequel head, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Columbia Pictures has brought on a pair of writers to pen a script.
Adam Fierro, whose credits include stints with The Shield, 24 and Dexter, and Glen Mazzara who worked with Fierro on The Shield and more recently separately on Starz’s Crash, are tasked with building upon a top secret concept director Peter Berg and Will Smith have helped with. Or maybe not so secret if Berg’s idea of a third superhero comes to fruition.
I’m hoping they can find a way for Hancock to slip back into alcoholism. He’s far more entertaining that way.
If all goes smoothly we could see Hancock 2 become a Will Smith summer tentpole for July 4th weekend in 2011.
