Wolverine 2 Could Start Shooting Next March

Darren Aronofsky hasn’t quite yet locked in to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 for Fox just yet, but apparently he’s close enough that scheduling discussions are taking place.

Deadline is reporting that Fox is looking into starting Wolverine 2’s shoot in March in New York City to appease the families Aronofsky and the film’s star, Hugh Jackman. Once the NYC shoot is complete, the production would load up on planes and shoot the rest of the film in Japan.

Another benefit to shooting in March is Aronofsky’s slate will be cleared after what could and likely should be a busy awards season for the Black Swan director. He could theoretically wrap up the Academy Awards and then jump right into shooting Wolverine 2.

Christopher McQuarrie wrote the script for Wolverine 2 based on a post-credits ending to Wolverine that saw the mutant drinking in a Japanese bar. Fox likely won’t announce a release date until the shooting plans are shored up.
