Nintendo has released the latest Wii U system update comprised of a handful of new features and tweaks designed to make the Wii U operational features easier to use.
The biggest update is a new Quick Start feature that has been added to the Wii U GamePad. Quick Start is useful when powering up the Wii U from the GamePad as it will quickly and automatically show the 10-most used games and applications on the GamePad screen. The key to this feature is that it comes up automatically while the Wii U is still booting up, so whatever game or application is selected will load simultaneously during Wii U’s boot sequence.
Here is a list of the other Wii U system update enhancements:
- An improved user setting and selection experience.
- System updates can now be downloaded and installed when the Wii U console is in standby mode.
- Full-screen alerts and notifications can be displayed on the GamePad controller, even if the system is in standby mode. These notifications will tell Wii U owners about new updates, game releases and promotions from Nintendo. Users can adjust how they receive these notifications.
- Easier Nintendo Network ID setup for new users.
- Notifications can now be accessed from the Home Menu as well as the Wii U Menu.
The Wii U system update will automatically download and install when the Wii U is connected to the Internet.
