So how exactly do you get your hands on the PS3 Home beta? It’s free. Other people have it. But where is it?
There are a couple things you want to make sure of in order to properly find the PS3 Home beta icon so you can download it. Skipping any one of these can keep the icon from appearing on your PS3 console.
First, if your PS3 was left on, make sure to turn it off and then back on again. A persistent connection to the Playstation Network before Home became available needs to be broken.
Second, once your PS3 is up and running again, make sure you’re connected online. If you are, your PS3 should automatically grab the Home icon and install it on your XMB.
To find the Home icon, go to the Playstation Network icon and open the sub-menu. You should see the new Home icon above the Playstation store.
If for some reason you performed these steps and still don’t see the Home icon, rinse and repeat. It may take several reboots before the icon displays correctly.
Once you have the icon all that is left is to download Home and then enjoy. Since this is the first day be prepared for lag and even disconnections during the download. The kinks should work themselves out once the initial rush subsides.
