It’s that time of year when HBO begins to promote the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. Last night’s episode of Boardwalk Empire delivered the second piece of promotional material to date.
Last week, HBO released a Game of Thrones: Season 3 teaser poster pushing the March 31, 2013 premiere date. There’s a neat little play on the number “3” with the “03” for March with three swords jabbed through it, signifying the third book in the series this upcoming season is based off of, ‘A Storm of Swords.’ It’s minimalistic, but does get the blood pumping knowing that a footage reveal can’t be that far off.
HBO followed up the promotional poster with a Game of Thrones: Season 3 short teaser trailer last night that plays off the same premiere date artwork. It’s essentially an animated version of the same date artwork seen in the poster. Sorry, no footage to report as of yet.
If history repeats itself, we should see the first Game of Thrones: Season 3 official footage before the year is out. That would make a nice Christmas gift, wouldn’t it?
