Watch Spike VGX Awards Online 2013 Video Game Awards

The Spike TV VGAs are no more having been rebooted from top to bottom and rebranded as the 2013 VGX Awards. The show, being represented in an entirely new format, promises 12-world premieres and numerous award presentations, including of course Game of the Year. Follow the links below to watch the 2013 VGX online streaming live.

Rather than simultaneously broadcast the VGX Awards on Spike TV and online, this year’s new schedule format will see the entire three-hour show streamed exclusively online at a start time of 6pm EST / 3pm PST. There will be no commercial breaks whatsoever so that’s three straight hours of premieres, awards and entertainment including a live concert performance of the Grand Theft Auto V theme.

The way the VGX will work this year is three awards will be voted upon by viewers. They include Most Anticipated Game, Character of the Year, and Best Mobile Game. The remaining 20 awards ranging from Game of the Year to Best Shooter to Best Voice Actress will be spread across the show. Game of the Year nominees include BioShock Infinite, Grand Theft Auto V, Super Mario 3D World, The Last of Us and Tomb Raider.

Several previously announced games will be world premieres of new footage and features. At minimum those games include South Park: The Stick of Truth, Destiny, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Quantum Break, The Division, Broken Age, Dying Light, Thief, and Titanfall.

In addition, an advertisement on the official VGX website revealed that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is coming to Xbox One and PS4 on January 28, 2014, and it will formally be announced during a Tomb Raider segment in the show’s first half. Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime will also take the stage for a live demo, and considering the mostly hardcore gamer audience, I would be shocked if it is anything other than Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and/or 3DS.

The real treat tonight will be world premieres that no one saw coming. Rumors suggested that Bethesda’s Fallout 4 would be unveiled until their PR VP Pete Hinesn took to Twitter and shot down those rumors. Former Epic developer Cliff Bleszinski is also in attendance and could be part of a new game unveiling. There’s always a chance we could see a little bit more of Uncharted 4 that was unveiled via a teaser trailer during the PS4 midnight launch in New York City last month.

Tonight’s 2013 VGX Awards will start at 6pm EST / 3pm PST and can be watching online streaming live free here. Spike TV will air a trimmed down version of the show running a brisk 60 minutes on television Monday night, but by then all the premieres and awards will have been discussed ad nauseum online already. Last year Telltale’s The Walking Dead won game of the year. Will another dark horse bring home the big prize this year? In my opinion it is between GTAV and The Last of Us.
