Warner Home Video has announced an all-new animated Batman adventure, Batman: Gotham Knight, will be coming to Blu-ray Disc on July 8. The release is timed to coincide with The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, and will be day-and-date with single and two-disc DVD versions.
The story of Batman: Gotham Knight is set between the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight feature films. Six stories will be weaved together that chronicle Batman’s journey into becoming the Dark Knight. Any additional plot details are currently being kept under wraps by Warner and DC Comics.
Batman: Gotham Knight will be presented on Blu-ray in widescreen 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 surround sound, though we don’t know yet whether lossless or lossy audio will be chosen.
The Blu-ray special features will be identical to the two-disc DVD version, including a pair of featurettes that won’t be available on the single-disc DVD.
