We can stop calling the sequel to Guy Ritchie’s 2009 Sherlock Holmes film by its numerical designation.
ComingSoon has confirmed with distributor Warner Bros. that Sherlock Holmes 2 is actually called Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. What that game is and why the shadows is anyone’s best guess given the secrecy surrounding the film’s plot. All that is known is Sherlock (Robert Downey Jr.) and Dr. Watson (Jude Law) film find themselves pitted against Sherlock’s arch-nemesis and the world’s first supervillain, Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris).
Joining the cast are Stephen Fry as Mycroft, Sherlock’s brother, and Noomi Rapace (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) in an unnamed female lead role.
Look for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in theaters beginning on December 16.
