Kate Beckinsale has signed a deal to star in the fourth Underworld film and reprise the role as the vampire Selene after skipping the third film in the series, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.
Details surrounding the Underworld 4 plot are currently underwraps but a search is currently underway for an actress to portray Selene’s daughter in the film as well as a director. Underworld and Underworld: Evolution director Len Wiseman will be one of the executive producers on the project.
It is currently unknown whether Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems are willing to put in a little extra money for 3D after the previous films have cost in the neighborhood of only $35 million a piece to produce. After the box office success of Resident Evil franchise entering the third dimension with Resident Evil: Afterlife, I’m going to speculate that Selene and the other vampires and Lycans will be coming at you in 3D as well.
Underworld 4 will being shooting in March of next year.
