Like Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine premiere in Tempe, Arizona earlier this year, Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon will not premiere in Los Angeles or New York.
Knoxville.com has confirmed with Regal Entertainment Group that New Moon will premiere in Knoxville, Tennessee at Regal Cinemas’ Pinnacle 18 at Turkey Creek ahead of its November 20 release date.
Final details are still being ironed out so the guest list, which promoters surely hope will include Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner at minimum, is still up in the air. Another key detail, the exact date, is also in discussions.
Why Knoxville, Tennessee? Regal holds one big premiere per year there with the proceeds benefiting Variety – The Children’s Charity of Eastern Tennessee. Last year’s Journey to the Center of the Earth premiere with Brendan Frasier netted them a record $300,000 in ticket sales and endorsements.
I’ll go out on a limb and predict New Moon’s fandom will push Frasier to number two.
