The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner is just over two months away from its November 16 release date. As you can imagine there isn’t much time to deliver additional trailers to get the Twi-hard fans up off their feet. As MTV confirmed today, there’s time only for one.
The final trailer for Stephanie Meyer and Summit Entertainment’s Twilight films will debut tomorrow at 8pm EST/PST during the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Pattinson himself will be on hand to debut the trailer, which will then shuffle over to MTV.com for a short exclusive online run before appearing everywhere.
In the meantime, MTV has aired one of those annoying “trailers for a trailer,” in this case a whopping 10-second spot for the 90-second full trailer. It’s got the enraged Volturi, Cullens, Lautner; a little bit of everything Twilight fans love to love.
Director Bill Condon recently told MTV that he’s wrapping up the film now and dealing with color timing and finalizing some of the big effects sequences in the film.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a Twilight fan. Never have been, never will be. But I am curious about the final installment’s box office potential. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 had the highest opening weekend and gross total of all eight Potter films. Can The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 pull off a similar feat? With media darlings Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson at the forefront, plus the promise of an ending that differs from Meyers’ book, anything is possible.
