Fox’s gestating Deadpool project got a boost of new life today when the studio announced signing Tim Miller to direct the X-Men spin-off film.
For Miller, Deadpool will be his directorial debut. The visual effects artist has lent his creative skills to Brian Singer’s X-Men films, Daredevil, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Night at the Museum, and other films. He’s no stranger to the superhero universe.
The big question mark for Deadpool is how Fox will carve out a reasonable chunk of time in Ryan Reynolds’ busy schedule. Reynolds is already attached to star in R.I.P.D., and Warner Bros. will likely want to get cracking on Green Lantern 2 sooner rather than later.
Even with those two big projects looming on the horizon, Reynolds is definitely still committed to playing Wade Wilson/Deadpool and has already locked up a producing deal with Fox on the film.
