MTV recently caught up with Thor actor Chris Hemsworth on the red carpet for The Last Song film starring his brother, Liam, and Miley Cyrus, and hit the actor up for his impressions on the recent Captain America casting and The Avengers director rumors.
“Fantastic,” Hemsworth said of Chris Evans landing the coveted role of Captain America. “He’s great. He’s got a ton of charisma, and he’s a bloke, and I think he has all the points to pull that off.”
Some might argue the “charisma” Evans put on display in the Fantastic Four films as The Human Torch is why he is not the right actor to portray the leader of the Avengers. I think Hemsworth has the right idea into seeing that charisma channeled in a new way for Captain America; a more grounded approach that can stand toe-to-toe with Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson in the 2012 Avengers film.
Speaking of The Avengers, Hemsworth said he would be fine if rumored The Incredible Hulk and Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier landed The Avengers directing gig. That big slot is not expected to be filled until much later this year with Hemsworth suggesting filming will get underway next January/February.
