The Walking Dead Season 3 Banner Features Michonne and The Governor

The Walking Dead Season 3 Banner Features Michonne and The GovernorAMC has released the first Season 3 banner for The Walking Dead to coincide with the kickoff of Comic-Con next week.

The banner features Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) flanked by the two new major cast additions for Season 3: Michonne (Danai Gurira) and The Governor (David Morrissey). Look carefully above The Governor’s left shoulder and you’ll spot what should be a familiar helicopter that figured into the zombie migration and finale of Season 2.

Along with the new banner via EW comes some new information about The Walking Dead: Season 3, straight from the mouth of showrunner Glen Mazzara. He updates the state of the world and says, “The entire world has collapsed, the apocalypse has taken over, the zombies have taken over, there’s no safe place.” This goes along with the recently released stills that show Rick and his group fighting off zombies in the prison.

Regarding Michonne, Mazzara says she will be a lot like her comic book character, someone who kicks ass and hates the zombies with all her heart. She will also struggle to fit into human society having been alone and fighting against the walkers for so long.

As for The Governor, all Mazzara offers on the character is that he will be an “interesting, complex, multilayered, dark figure.” Though actor David Morrissey doesn’t necessarily have the exact look of the character from the comic, Mazzara assures fans that he the right guy to serve as the foundation of an entire storyline.

The first footage from The Walking Dead: Season 3 will debut at Comic-Con next week. Expect some sort of teaser trailer to hit the web shortly thereafter.
