McFarlane Toys understands The Walking Dead is a seriously hot property right now which is why they’ve snatched up the rights to produce action figures for both The Walking Dead comic book as well as AMC television series from Robert Kirkman and AMC, respectively, in an awesome pre-Toy Fair announcement.
The first series of 6″ figures are set for release in September and include Officer Rick Grimes, Michonne, Zombie Lurker and Zombie Roamer. Series 2 will arrive in November and feature characters from the television show: Deputy Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Zombie Walker and Zombie Biter.
All the figures will be articulated withi accessories but McFarlane is not stopping there. They want to “push the envelope” of action figure design and will include features on the zombie figures such as exploding heads and removable limbs. I wish I could tell you how they’ll pull off an exploding head (assuming it’s an action-feature and not an interchangeable head) but I honestly have no idea.
Thanks to MTV Geek we have a first-look at one of the Zombies from series one below. To own this gnarly guy with a giant axe stuck in his head, or any of The Walking Dead figures, will set you back $14.99 a pop.
