The Social Network Atop Weekend Box Office Actuals

The Social Network pulled back slightly on Sunday but still managed to come out on top of the weekend box office heat by a comfortable margin.

David Fincher’s story of how Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin gave birth to Facebook pulled in $22.4 million from Friday through Sunday, roughly $600,000 less than the initial studio estimates of $23 million. Even with the small dip, The Social Network easily topped second place finisher Legend of the Guardians by $11.6 million.

The Prophet missed predicting The Social Network’s opening weekend by a mere $200,000 in our Weekend Box Office Prophet Game. With Prophet wins for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Case 39 and Let Me In, the players fell yet again and our now enormous jackpot rolls into the next round. Top player finisher kanderspina takes home a consolation prize.
