The live-action/CGI Smurfs movie is going to follow the path blazed by G-Force and be made in 3D.
ComingSoon.net reports Columbia Pictures has made the decision and will roll out the film currently in pre-production on December 17, 2010.
Though The Smurfs movie is well over a year away and the cartoon a distant memory, Smurfs merchandise continues to be sold in stores. While perusing one of the young kids’ toy aisles with my daughter recently I spotted several Smurfs figures, playsets and whatnot. She had no interest in them and I could not have been more proud of her.
The Smurfs film is being directed by Colin Brady based on a script by the writing duo David Stem and David Weiss who collaborated on Shrek 2 and Daddy Day Camp.
