The Shawshank Redemption’s path to high definition began during HD DVD’s infancy Warner Home Video listed it on an insert for “coming soon” titles. One particular insert even included cover art, leaving us to believe its release was inevitable.
As the months wore on Shawshank remained a no-show, right up until the recent demise of HD DVD. Whether intentionally or by pure accident, shortly after the flurry of HD DVD headlines, Warner has issued an extremely early announcement for The Shawshank Redemption’s arrival exclusively on Blu-ray Disc
Announcements made this time of year typically indicate a summer release. In the case of Shawshank, the time frame has essentially doubled. In other words, The Shawshank Redemption will be released on Blu-ray Disc November 4, two-thirds of a year from now.
Additional disc information including technical specs, supplemental features and cover art will be passed along as they’re received. The Shawshank Redemption on Blu-ray will carry an SRP of $28.99.
