Sony has confirmed the existence of a playable demo for The Last of Us. There’s a catch, of course, if you want to be one of the first to get your hands on it.
Those who purchase God of War: Ascension in March will get a first crack at The Last of Us demo. Sony stopped short of sharing the exact launch date for the demo other than to say it is coming “at a later date.” With the full game release set for May 7, 2013, it’s not hard to imagine that the demo will be accessible by mid-April.
Apparently the way it works is God of War: Ascension has a selection for The Last of Us that will appear on the main PS3 menu when you pop in the game disc. Details on how to access the demo, expected to be a full chapter from the game, will appear when you click on this.
The title of Sony’s blog post that announces The Last of Us demo is, “The Last of Us Demo Coming First to God of War: Ascension Owners.” The use of the word “first” leads me to believe that Sony will release the demo to everyone after a short exclusive window for God of War: Ascension owners.
