The buddy cop comedy The Heat starring the unusual pairing of Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy is headed to Digital HD on October 1, and Blu-ray and DVD a couple weeks later on October 15. Both releases will offer the theatrical cut as well as a new unrated cut that runs three minutes longer.
The Heat set the box office on fire back in July and ran its domestic earnings up to $157.4 million. Throw in overseas ticket sales and Fox is surely pleased with the $214.6 million in worldwide box office receipts thus far based off a budget of around $43 million.
Fox is presenting The Heat on Blu-ray in 2.4:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. An extensive list of clearly snarky bonus features totals over two hours worth of material as follows:
- Welcome To the Bonus Features!
- All The Stuff We Had To Take Out But Still Think Is Funny – Deleted, Alternate & Extended Scenes
- Mullins Family Fun
- How THE HEAT Was Made
- Police Brutality
- Let’s Get Physical
- Acting Master Class
- Supporting Cast Cavalcade
- Over And Out
- Easter Eggs
- Hilarious Audio Commentaries Featuring Melissa McCarthy, Director Paul Feig, the Original Mystery Science Theater 3000 Guys, and The Mullins Family
