There’s still no official The Dark Knight Rises trailer to look at this morning. However, all is not quiet on the news front for the big Bat sequel. The film looks to include some sort of sporting event based on a casting call that has gone out in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where Christopher Nolan is ramping up to shoot numerous scenes over the coming weeks.
On Saturday, August 6, Nolan and his crew are planning to either partially or completely fill Heinz Field in Pittsburgh with extras. The stadium is where the Steelers play their NFL football games and would take over 65,000 extras to fill to the brim. Odds are more favorable that only a section of the stadium will require screaming fans.
The casting call is looking for anyone over the age of 14 with those under the age of 18 being accompanied by an adult. Furthermore, the extras will be asked to cheer for the Gotham Rogues as they take on their rivals, the Rapid City Monuments. More information on the casting call can be found here.
A one-day shoot at Heinz Field probably means Nolan is just looking for some crowd shots. There’s also the possibility that there might be some kind of incident at the stadium ala the terrorist attacked during Syfy’s Caprica that brought a stadium to the ground, or a chase scene that just happens to pass through the stadium full of people. Wouldn’t it be neat if the Tumbler raced through Heinz Field during a football game?
Speaking of the Tumbler, yesterday someone in Pittsburgh snapped photos of the famous Batmobile sitting on a trailer in Pittsburgh. The photos offer definitive proof that the Tumbler will return in some capacity, though it’s difficult to tell from the photo if any modifications have been made to the famous armored vehicle.
We’re all still holding out hope that Warner Bros. releases The Dark Knight Rises trailer today after it was leaked online earlier this week. If it doesn’t appear today, we might have to wait until Monday or Tuesday of next week for the trailer to show up.
