The Dark Knight Rises Retains Gotham’s Mayor

Christopher Nolan has written Gotham’s Mayor into The Dark Knight Rises and Nestor Campbell is currently in negotiations with the studio for the role.

Carbonell, mostly recognized for his role as ageless Richard Alpert on ‘Lost,’ will reprising the same Mayor role he portrayed in The Dark Knight. There’s no indication yet as to the extent that the character will figure into the plot of The Dark Knight Rises.

Joining Carbonell in The Dark Knight Rises will be fellow returning cast members Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman. New to the third and final Nolan Batman installment are Tom Hardy, Anny Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple, Marion Cotillard, Daniel Sunjata and Josh Pence.

Warner Bros. has already confirmed that The Dark Knight Rises will shoot primarily this summer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It will swoop into theaters on July 20, 2012.
