The Dark Knight Rises is less than two weeks away from release and the anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s Batman finale is almost palpable following a series of positive reactions from early press screenings.
Rare insight into Nolan and the film came online earlier this week via an article at the L.A. Times. From it we learned that Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has become reclusive since the events of The Dark Knight, letting himself fade physically and mentally over an eight-year period when Batman was no longer needed as the symbol to protect Gotham with Harvey Dent’s legacy intact.
It will be a combination of Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy) that draw Batman out of retirement and back onto the streets of Gotham. Bane has big plans that unfold over the course of the film, while Selina provides a mysterious new entry into Nolan’s universe with her own hidden agenda.
Now that we’re so close to the release of The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. has released their official press kit with 17 high-res images from the film. Some you have seen before, while others are brand new – including a great shot of Catwoman standing in front of the Gotham skyline.
The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20 in theaters and IMAX. I highly recommend seeing it in IMAX and securing your tickets sooner rather than later as sellouts will be common through the opening weekend.
