Guillermo Del Toro is blazing a new trail on Blu-ray when he makes himself available on November 23 to answer pre-selected questions live via the Hellboy II: The Golden Army Blu-ray Disc BD-Live portal. His participation marks the first use of BD-Live for connecting film watchers with the creative talent behind the film.
Today we’ve learned Del Toro won’t be the only director reaching out to fans via BD-Live. Warner Home Video confirmed over the weekend that The Dark Knight director and co-writer Christopher Nolan will be the second guinea pig for a BD-Live chat session.
Unlike Universal who is not capping the number of participants for the Hellboy II chat, Warner is cutting off registration after the first 100,000 purchasers of The Dark Knight on Blu-ray in either the standard or Bat-Pod Collector’s Edition sets register for the event.
Based on the rumored 1 million copies of The Dark Knight on Blu-ray expected to ship for its December 9 release, these slots could very well completely fill up.
It is still unclear how Warner and Nolan will be fielding questions. Universal has opened up their BD-Live portal to registered members who can submit up to three questions for consideration beforehand.
We’ve also learned The Dark Knight standard and Bat-Pod Blu-ray sets will include a feature were you can create a video commentary using a web-cam and upload it to the web for others to view.
Someone needs to upload the perfect Joker commentary.
