Filming on The Avengers is in full swing and miraculously Marvel Studios has managed to keep a lid on any photographs of suited up team members out of the public’s eye. Thanks to a new promotional poster that debuted at the recent Licensing Expo 2011 in Las Vegas, we at least get an idea of what the team will look like.
The artistically drawn poster depicts Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Curiously absent is Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, but don’t read anything into that as this poster isn’t official in the sense that it is promoting the film as much as the licensing opportunities attached to it.
According to the New York Times in an article run yesterday, Marvel is currently debating whether to hold a panel for The Avengers at Comic-Con next month. In the past, the convention has been used to launch the first footage for their big upcoming films.
Joss Whedon’s The Avengers will take flight on May 4, 2012.
