Terra Nova Footage Preview From Tonight’s Premiere

Terra Nova is set to join Fox’s Monday lineup tonight in a grand two-hour premiere with sprawling Australian jungle sets and CGI dinosaurs ranging from harmless herbivores to killing machines.

To get you in the mood for Terra Nova, I’ve cobbled together 11 clips from the premiere episode ‘Genesis’ which you can watch below. They’ll introduce you to the Shannon family lead by Jason O’Mara, gruff military colony leader Nathaniel Taylor played by Avatar’s Stephen Lang, and the Sixers, whose identity and purpose are touched upon in the clips and more fleshed out in the premiere.

There’s action in Terra Nova as the TV spots have implied, but don’t let that fool you into thinking the Steven Spielberg-executive produced show is Jurassic Park for television. The dinos are there and look great for a television show, but they’re secondary to everything else going on.

Much of the plot revolves around the Shannon family and their rebuilding effort as a family 85 million years in the past after a tumultuous existence in their present (our future). O’Mara’s journey as Jim is especially transforming considering where he begins the premiere and the position he ultimately ends up in.

There’s also several mysteries about the colony, its existence and its purpose that will play out over the course of the first season and beyond. Theories are sure to start popping up online shortly after the premiere.

The Terra Nova series premiere is tonight on Fox at 8/7c. James is currently working on an in-depth review, but you can read his quick first impressions of the Terra Nova premiere right now.
