Producers of Fox’s hit comedy New Girl have enlisted singer and songwriter extraordinaire Taylor Swift to guest star on the upcoming Season 2 finale. The news was first reported by THR and subsequently confirmed by Fox on their official Twitter feed. Potential spoilers about the Season 2 finale follow so proceed at your own risk.
Swift is said to embody the role of an “important” guest at the wedding between Cece (Hannah Simone) and her appointed husband, Shivrang (Satya Bhabha). We’ll have to wait to see just how important of a guest to the proceedings Swift will end up being. It would be funny if she turned out to be “trouble when she walked in.”
Acting is something Swift has been slowly nudging her way into over the past few years. She appeared in a cameo role on CSI and also alongside Taylor Lautner in Valentine’s Day. Her most successful dip into Hollywood was lending her voice to Universal’s hit animated film The Lorax.
Don’t be surprised if other notable guest stars pop up in the New Girl season finale as well. New Girl has earned a reputation for slipping some big names into its airtime including Jamie Lee Curtis, Dennis Farina, and just this past Tuesday Justified’s Margo Martindale as Nick’s grumpy-turned-happy mother who took a liking to Jess. It would be unusual for New Girl to utilize only one noteworthy cameo in a wedding scene.
The New Girl: Season 2 finale starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris is set for May 14 at 9/8c.
