The Syfy marketing campaign for the Battlestar Galactica spin-off series Caprica is underway with the help of a new promotional key art poster released via Chicago Tribune’s The Watcher.
The poster features a topless Alessandra Torresani as Zoe Graystone, the daughter of an engineer played by Eric Stoltz responsible for developing Cylon artificial intelligence. She holds a bitten apple in a nod to Eve which opens the door for discussion and interpretation of her character’s importance to the show and storyline already alluded to in the pilot.
Butting heads with Stoltz will be Esai Morales as the lawyer father of Admiral Adama and grandfather of Apollo. Polly Walker and Paula Malcolmson also appear in recurring roles.
The Watcher confirms that season one of Caprica will consist of 17 episodes split between the first quarter and second half of 2010, plus the two-hour already available pilot rather than the originally intended 18. In short, the show proved to be more expensive to produce than originally budgeted so an episode was cut out for strictly financial reasons.
Caprica will debut January 22 exclusively on Syfy in an uphill battle to meet the sky high expectations bestowed upon it courtesy of the television brilliance that is Battlestar Galactica.
