Starfox 64 3D Multiplayer Trailer

Nintendo has rolled out a new trailer for Starfox 64 3D on 3DS to coincide with PAX this weekend and the game’s release next month.

This new Starfox 64 3D trailer is all about pumping up multiplayer action, achievable by two separate 3DS consoles via a local network and only one game cartridge. Whether playing against two, three or four opponents in Survival, Point Battle or Time Battle modes, you get to look at live cams of their faces floating above their ships as you chase and shoot them down. The feature is either pure genius or comedy waiting to happen.

A good stretch of the trailer focuses on the new power-up items that will debut in the game. They include Firebird, which engulfs your ship in a protective flame; the ability to drop Stealth Mines; the ability to Cloak and resemble a Klingon Bird of Prey; a Supernova to blast several enemies in a single, swift stroke; a Force Field to gain a little protection when it’s needed most; Transposer to swap physical locations with another ship; Slow Burrs that drag behind your ship and are deadly to other ships; and the return of the ever-popular Bomb.

The trailer wraps up by showing some new stages and offering another look at the power-ups in action.

Starfox 64 3D for Nintendo 3DS takes flight on September 9, 2011, marking the first big first party 3DS release for the system this holiday season.
