Lucasfilm has posted up the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars trailer in HD after bootleg versions popped up on the web over the past few weeks.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars was created by merging together the first four episodes of the upcoming television series by the same name to create a feature-length film. It will be released theatrically nationwide on August 15.
Breaking down the trailer brings a mixed reaction after suffering through the abysmal prequel films. The action, animation and dare I say “acting” in the animated Clone Wars is superior to that of the live-action films. This should look and sound stunning on Blu-ray Disc in 1080p video and DTS-HD Master Audio.
But like those films, Lucasfilm is hellbent on forcing in as many “connections” to the original classic trilogy as they possibly can. Yes, Jabba the Hutt is cool, but does he need to be involved with Anakin and Obi-Wan? Before you know it we’ll start seeing the parents of Ewoks from return of the Jedi.
