The first trailer for Sony Animation’s sequel Smurfs 2 hatches Gargamel’s latest hairbrained idea to conquer those pesky blue Smurfs once and for all. If you’ve seen the first Smurfs flick then get ready for more of the same.
This time around, Gargamel has whipped up a couple minions called the Naughties to corrupt Smurfette into doing, well, naughty things. Think brown jokester Smurfs and you get the idea.
Smurfette (Katy Perry) falls for Gargamel’s lure much to the dismay of Papa Smurf (Jonathan Winters), but ends up being more naughty than Gargamel bargained for. There’s also a deep-voiced narrator Smurf but I’m guessing he’s a cameo for the trailer only. Then again, he could pop up at various points in the film. Who know.
Hank Azaria returns as Gargamel and Neil Patrick Harris as the Smurf’s human liason, Patrick Winslow. Look for Smurfs 2 to arrive in theaters on July 31, 2013.
