Skylanders Swap Force will reintroduce the Adventure Pack concept that originally debut with Spryo’s Adventure but went on hiatus with Giants. There will be a total of two all-new Adventure Packs released with Swap Force, one of which has now been revealed.
Activision wasn’t willing to share details about the Adventure Packs at E3 last week as they have their own publicity plans in place that will dictate when official images and details are revealed. Thanks to a flier distributed with a pre-order at GameStop, the first new Adventure Pack is called ‘Tower of Time’ and includes new Skylander Popthorn, the Tower of Time toy that opens up the new world via the Portal of Power, and two extra power accessories; one that looks like a hammer and the other a diamond.
Because of the new Portal of Power being introduced with Swap Force and the new swapping dynamic of the Swap Force Skylanders, the previously released Adventure Packs will not work with the Swap Force game. The inclusive characters such as Slam Bam, Ghost Roaster and Sunburn will, but their accompanying worlds will not. Only the two new Adventure Packs will work with Swap Force.
Skylanders Swap Force is currently available for pre-order on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Wii and 3DS at Amazon.com. All pre-orders include a free bonus LightCore Hex figure. The game will be released on October 13, about a week earlier than the previous two installments were deployed to stores.
