Activision has announced additional details surrounding Skylanders Swap Force, the third entry in the ongoing console-based series and first from developer Vicarious Visions.

Skylanders Swap Force will arrive first in North America on October 13. Australians can get their hands on the game beginning on October 16, and Europe on October 18.
Activision has also confirmed that retailers will begin taking pre-orders for Skylanders Swap Force Starter Packs beginning today, and all pre-orders will entitle the buyer to a free Skylanders toy. This is a similar promotion to what Disney Interactive is running with Disney Infinity.
Skylanders Swap Force will be coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and will also be available for the next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, presumably around launch. A Wii version developed by Beenox is on the way, as is a 3DS version by n-Space, whom handled the Giants 3DS game.
Activision has priced Skylanders Swap Force starter packs at $74.99, the same price as previous versions of the game. Regular Skylanders are $9.99, LightCore are $12.99, and the new Swap Force figures are $14.99, replacing the same price point as the Giants figures from the previous game.
